The Dating Situation: Are there any rules to it?

Plums
If you thought I was going to lay down the rules of dating, think again. Fact is, there are no rules to dating. Think about it. Everybody has their own concrete idea as to what dating means to them. So establishing a guideline is close to impossible. You have to consider the millions of people who have their own perspective on how to “get to know” somebody.  Dating is more than the hot restaurants, expensive wine and the other cliché activities that comes with the idea. Why date anyway?  Just make me feel good…have a little money and/or class…and we live happily ever after…. Right? If only it was that easy. One thing we can all agree on is the meaning of dating.  Basically, it’s the process of figuring out if…

Relationships: One to ManyWhat About your friendsGrowing up my mom used to remind me that one is a reflection of the people they associate themselves with. Not saying that you can't be different or not participate in similar acts, but to others outside your circle, the worst actions are presumed for everyone. For instance, if one of your friends is hoe, and others are aware of her friendly acts, people assume that everyone in your circle is a hoe too. People take things at face value instead of finding what's really going on.  A friendship is just like any relationship: it requires communication, time, empathy, and sacrifice. It is a two way street; give and take. Me and my friends love each other like sisters and we care about each…

Relationships: One to ManyBoundaries                So with all my relationship experience one thing I do know is MEN HAVE ISSUES WITH CREATING BOUNDARIES.  When an “ex” is no longer in the picture, she/he needs to know their place. Ex means; old, no longer, left out, TOTALLY IRRELEVANT. So with that being said, an en ex should not be included in the present relevant picture. Honesty is the best policy in these instances because sometimes the “other” person does not know they are over stepping their boundaries. In every relationship communication is key. For example, my friend’s boyfriend is in a picture with another girl that is a “friend”. This “friend” likes my friend’s boyfriend. So my friend has asked him about the picture, you know like when was this picture taken,…

When I think about the many things that God has done for me in my life a smile comes over my face. To think that someone can care so much for you and stand by you, when no one else is around brings me joy. So why then do we not take the time to fully glorify God? I’m not talking about just reading the Bible or getting daily scriptures sent to your phone from various apps. I’m talking about really glorifying him and lifting up his name for all that he has done for us.Women are supposed to be strong individuals who “hold” everything around them down. So much pressure is put on a woman because we constantly have to prove ourselves. It is easy then, for women to…

Relationships: One to Many A Packaged Deal          A package is usual a box or container that holds one or more things, whether it be clothing, household goods, or even a parent and their child(children). So this is for all my SINGLE MOTHERS; not baby mamas; but the ones that are keeping their children first. When I say first, I mean, who don’t put men before them, don’t stay out late on school nights because you have to get up to make sure they get to school on time, not  looking for a sugar daddy or support system, the mothers that realize that once they had children they have to set aside childish ways, a GOOD mother. This is for the young and old alike because there are some women that feel…

Relationships: One to ManyA Good Distant Love            In 2005, according to The Center for the Study of Long Distance Relationships  an estimated 2.9% of US marriages were considered long distance, with 1 in 10 marriages reported to have included a period at long distance within the first 3 years. This means that in 2005 approximately 3,500,000 people in the US alone were involved in long-distance marriages.  It is harder to know precisely how many non-married couples are in a long distance relationship but according to The Center for the Study of Long Distance Relationships there was an estimated 4 to 4.5 million college couples in the US which were in non marital LDRs. These LDRs are due to social, environmental and economic factors such as participation in the military, studying…

Relationships: One to ManyChange of ThoughtAs I sit in my window I have all these thoughts running through my head..” I’m afraid to love, why do I date the same guys, what if I get hurt, I’m tired of being alone, will I ever find someone who likes me for me”…STOP I can’t keep thinking like this I will drive myself insane. I know, maybe I will get an account on Match.com, or go to the gym..naah, ooh I can go to the club..hmm, that’s not really my scene, I GOT IT, I’ll go to church…lol  Sounds crazy, but in reality these thoughts go through a woman’s head quite often; thoughts that run a marathon every time she has to stop and think about the fact that she is ALONE.…

Relationships: One to ManyDon’t take people at Face Value! So I have this friend, she has never been in a serious relationship; but wants one, just graduated from college and just moved to California to pursue her dreams of being an actress. So she called me two week ago saying she just met this great guy, he is a producer and wants to make her “famous”. So I asked her what she knew about him, where was his family from, what kind of producing he does, have you asked anyone else about him? You know questions a friend would ask. She said she was just having fun and not for me to worry, she had him checked out and he was a good guy. Well I have seen plenty of movies…

Outside ForcesA relationship is a state of connectedness between two people; two meaning a couple, the sum of one plus one, me and you...etc. When other people are figured into this equation it can cause a rift, divide, or even over crowding for the initial " two" people in the relationship. There is a saying, "three is a crowd" and in a relationship, this is definitely true. This crowd could include parents, a mistress, and the most common...friends. To some people, their parents opinion of their significant other is a major deal breaker. For example, a girl's mother or father may not approve of her boyfriend, so they may try to keep them from seeing each other, make their relationship hell, or even make her stop seeing him. The "…
