Evaluation Time!!!

Pinks
Look, I know you're busy (or like to seem busy) but when was the last time you took a step back and evaluated yourself? Well with the temps dropping & days getting shorter why not do a seasonal evaluation? At your job they log your progress to decide if you'll get a promotion or some other type of reward so you should rate your performance to see if your being the best (insert name here) that you can be! I discovered the power of the personal evaluation when I started my site. I'm moderately organized but when you start your own business or any new endeavor it's nice to have a check list to make sure you don't forget anything. Somewhere in the beginnings of it all I started applying…

Relationship SNAFU!!!

Pinks
So if you're a military brat or are just good at acronyms then you know what the title means. For those of you who don't, dont feel bad, neither did I til my coworkers told me! lol! SNAFU is a military term that stands for Situation Normal, All Fucked Up! lol! Now with my recent luck in relationships this phase seems to fit my luck with most guys. Things are going good (at least I think they are!) then all of a sudden he's super stalker or is an atheist, or has 3 kids he forgot to mention in our past 6 dates, or still has a girlfriend & is tryna audition me a the side line hoe, or he aint got no job & kicks it on the couch…

“Real Talk” from Comedians

Plums
Now from the title you may be a little skeptical. I'm not gonna lie, the first time I saw a comedian being serious I was too! After a while of seeing someone a certain way it's hard to picture them as something else. Like when the fashion-forward girl shows up in sweats & a faded t-shirt you think something's wrong! Maybe she just wants to chill for a day. or in this situation the funny guy is being serious.  . . . Uh, the jokes have to turn off some time. We put them in this box & forget that they're normal people too! Well open up your eyes & ears to take in this real talk from these funny  guys. [youtube http://youtu.be/M0eUWoqh64I] He was serious about twitter -> @LifeWithKev or @KevinEdwardsJr [youtube http://youtu.be/9YNwrAciuxQ]…

Verity Reign Says . . .

Pinks
Every now & then in my social media perusing I find a post that is so TRUTHFUL that I jus have to share it! This is one of those posts! Check out the latest from Verity Reign Pet Peeve: Friends Who Constantly Cry About Mr. Wrong but Never Leave Him! Okay, I'm not one with an unusually long list of pet peeves. Even when certain things (like smacking your food all up in my ear) annoy me, I'm pretty good at ignoring them and faking a convincing, wide smile as if all is well. One thing, however, that I cannot tolerate, is when women stay with trifling, good for nothing men and then call their BFF to complain about and weep over them! Jesus, take the wheel!   Though Mary sings about the…

Appetizer or Meal, what’s your place at the table?

Reds
Majority of the twitterverse is tuning in Monday nights to VH1 for Love & Hip Hop Atl and are enthralled with ridiculous antics of the characters chosen to represent the Peach State. I say characters because if you have eyes you can tell 99.9% of the show is "enhanced" (aka fake). Regardless of their terrible acting skills & staged drama I, like many of you, escape to this land of ratchetness as our guilty pleasure. Speaking of ratchet I want to weigh in on the crazy ass drama that surrounds the most popular characters Joseline & Stevie J & MiMi but I wanna talk about Joseline. That girl came on the scene like a tornado with her thick accent, Rihanna-esque appearance & willingness to go all out for her man.…

contributed by T. Johnson It has been my opinion that we all are born with the pre-disposition to want to have someone to look up to, someone to show us the way when we become lost, and someone that sees the best in us when we can’t see the best in ourselves. That person who shows us what “doing the right thing” looks like, what success looks like and how to find our own path. All too often, in the young lives of those who need them the most, this individual or individuals is seemingly nowhere to be found forcing them to look towards “the next best thing” the only other thing that has consistently played a role in their lives, media and the products of their environment. The depth…

Madea's Advice [youtube http://youtu.be/OW3T4jq1LsA] There's a saying "Some people come in your life for a lifetime, some for a season. You have to know which is which. And you gone always mess up when you mix them seasonal people up with lifetime expectations" -Madea Goes to Jail This quote from Tyler Perry's play is constantly in my mind during every relationship I have, whether it's an acquaintance, friendship or much more. We encounter different people in so many different ways and who knows how long they'll be in our lives. That cutie on the bus you made eye contact with was your soul mate or perhaps just another stranger on the street. I sincerely believe that everything happens for a reason. We meet people, they teach us things by inspire…

No One Likes A Bragger

Pinks
contributed by Sammie Jo We all know that person. The person who stumbles upon some magnificent fortune that the rest of us haven’t been able to attain and then proceeds to let everyone else know how lucky he or she is. This “fortune” doesn’t have to come in the form of cold, hard cash. It can be anything from a new car, to a new house, to a new job, to an engagement. I mean, sure, we all get excited when something wonderful happens to us. If you don’t, you’re weird! I was incredibly happy when I got my first big-girl job and I posted an update about it on Facebook and I called everyone who cares about me and I let them know. Done. But then there are those people who…

Thoughts from a Bald Head Cutie

contributed by Beautiful PainApparently, it has become a problem for me or any other Black woman in particular to be an independent woman; call me confused, but I thought I was being raised to learn how to survive and take care of myself. Hell, weren’t we all raised and instilled with that desire? Seems to me that being an independent Black woman is being treated as an epidemic, and quite frankly, I think more women need to fall victim to this “problem.” Honestly though, I’m a bit confused; see men sit here and complain that all they keep finding are women who are gold diggers, lazy and only want them for their money. Yet, when they find a woman that wants to spend her own money or buy her own things,…

The Dilema

Pinks
contributed by Sammie Jo     I’ve learned a lot about myself in the past twenty three years (Soon to be twenty four – yikes!) and one of the lessons that always sticks with me is that point blank, I want what’s bad for me. Or should I say, if it’s good for me, I don’t want it? If I’m at a restaurant, chances are I’m not going to drink water with lemon. If it’s a week night, may I have a sweet tea, please? If it’s a weekend, I’ll take a Bud Lite, por favor. If I’m hungry after a long day at work, the last thing I want is a salad with grilled chicken and a side of light ranch (Don’t you hate it when you go grab…

Thoughts from a Bald Head Cutie

Pinks
contributed by Beautiful Pain Are we as women the reason to blame for our being single? I mean think about it, we constantly complain that we end with the wrong man, that all the good ones are taken. After each failed relationship, we angrily declare that no man will hurt us again and the next guy will be put to the test to make certain that he isn’t like that last one. We hold onto this resolve, and wear our badge of wounded anger on our shoulder as a form of protection; until the next man. We meet this man who we feel is Mr. Wonderful and we give him our time and attention.  We let him into our mind and give him our body and tell all our friends that…
