So there's this new rapper that's blowing up everywhere named Trinidad James & I have no idea what to make of him. My lil brother told me about him, showed me his video & I was so enthralled, to say the least, by his appearance that I barely paid attention to the music. When I referred to him all I could talk about was how crazy he looked & I try not to make a habit of being shallow, so I said let me give his music a chance. Loafers. Smoking slippers. Dandy slippers. Flats. Whatever you call em, I love em!! lol! I'm not that into sneakers -I'll look at em but I'm not paying $150+ for shoes that I know wont be worn for their purpose i.e. Jordans that never see a basketball court! Nope, not I! Although I am the chick that will spend the same $150 on a pair of heels that I only wear once a year. Call it a contradiction, I don't care, I'm a heel girl! lol! Fall weather is a bit like a roller coaster relationship—one day it's sunny and bright, the next it's bleak and chilly. My solution to the seasonal wardrobe limbo is simple: layering. Besides being utterly practical, layered outfits are also downright fun to create. Figuring out the right combination of proportion, color, and texture is the sort of fashion Rubik's Cube that delights my sartorial soul. With this wardrobe puzzle in mind, I turned to the F/W 12 runways for some ideas and inspiration. From the funky graphic sweatshirts worn over turtlenecks at Balenciaga to the preppy stripes under bright shells at J.
