“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
Lately you’ve been really on your grind trying to maintain. Whether you’re in school, just working, or doing both, something has been missing from your life. With all the running around we have today, it’s hard to commit to so many different things. My question is, if we can find the time to commit to school, work, and different organizations why can’t we find the time for God? I’m not talking about when things go wrong during your day and you call on God seeking help. I’m not talking about just praying about a new job, money, or any other materialistic things either. What I’m referring to is just praying to God for help connecting to him and getting you know him personally. No, this does not mean putting “I’m #teamGod” on Twitter in your bio. It’s not enough to update a status everyday or tweet every morning thanking God for what he’s done. This is not a show to prove to others that you’re a believer. Instead try attending Church, reading the Bible, and getting down on your knees praying to God. People make time to do the things they like to do. When you have a busy schedule and a friend says “Hey let’s go to the mall!” You manage to adjust your schedule so that you can hang out with friends. So why is it so hard for us to set aside some time for God?
“We must allow God’s word to richly dwell within us.” Colossians 3:16 (NIV)
Speaking Your Desire!
Over spring break I had the pleasure of attending Joy Of Faith Christian Ministries with Pastor and Founder, Dr. Samuel N. Smith. Entering the church you hear soft playing music and see people on their knees praying to God. I quickly found a seat and joined the rest of the congregation. The spirit of the Lord was truly in this place. I felt him all around me and a peace and calming nature came over me. I felt like I was home.
Pastor Smith’s message for the day was “Speaking Your Desire” and I can say I was very moved by the message he prepared for everyone. He expressed that “The word must be a priority in your life.” This really stood out to me because I personally feel that I can make a better effort with making God’s word a priority in my life.
“My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.” Psalm 45:1 (The Holy Bible NIV)
Here are some notes taken during service from Pastor Smith:
· God has conditioned us to be conformed in his word.
· Begin to speak desire.
· Doubters come a dime a dozen. Find those who stay with the word and in prayer.
· Faith is assurance that what is coming out of your mouth will come to past.
· The word of God is healthy for you.
· You must believe when you pray.
