In the last health and beauty issue The Blonde One gave some very helpful beauty advice. This week I want to give you all a few fitness suggestions that can help you get and stay healthy in the coming seasons.
It is common for people to gain some weight during the fall and winter months and then struggle in the spring and summer to lose the extra pounds. We are going to put an end to that once and for all with a few tips to help us keep those unwanted pounds away! Here is what I suggest:
- Fall mornings and evenings are perfect for outdoor walks and outdoor exercising in general. Invest in a good pair of walking/training shoes and get moving! I have been using Reebok’s Easy Tone shoes and I absolutely love them! They advertise that they will strengthen and tone your legs and butt and they really do! The other day I was looking in the mirror and I got a glimpse of my behind and BA-BY that thang is looking nice! #truestory Make sure you are fully committed because these shoes are about $100.00. You may be able to find some cheaper online or at the outlet stores.
- Use 2lb walking dumbbells when you walk. Hand weights are a great way to pump up your cardio work-out and help strengthen your upper body at the same time. Again, I can speak from personal experience. I use the Gold’s Gym brand of walking dumbbells and I can tell the difference in my arms. They are more toned than they were before. The dumbbells have a strap on them, so it really isn’t a hassle to hold them while I am doing my cardio. Also, they were very inexpensive. I got mine from Wal-Mart for $8.00 (total for two)
- When working on your core section (abdominal muscles) use a 5-10lb soft-weight ball to put a little more strain on your stomach muscles. When doing sit-ups hold the ball as you come up and down. Trust me, you will feel the burn! I use the Gold’s Gym brand as well and it was relatively inexpensive. I got it from Wal-Mart for $10.00
- Some days there may be factors that try to prevent you from exercising that is where exercise videos come in. They are a great way to get an effective workout without leaving the comfort of your home. The soft weight ball I purchased from Wal-Mart had an accompanying video that included 30 minutes of exercises to do with the ball. It was very helpful and I do the workouts in the video from time to time. You can also purchase videos for little to nothing. Wal-Mart has some as cheap as $6.00
