“Humble yourself before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” James 4:10 NIV

Lately I’ve found myself thanking God for every single thing! Even things that seem so small are a blessing from God and I feel like I can not thank him enough. This time of year people are so busy with Christmas shopping for their loved ones, forgetting about others can easily happen. Personally, when I leave my house I see the homeless and help whenever I can. It disturbs me when I can’t because I wish I could do more. Of course you don’t want to see another human being in pain or begging others for help. I just send up a prayer and hope that something great happens to improve their day.

While at work earlier last week a man and woman walked in the store with a flyer, normally I just throw those away but something made me take a look. Out of their own kindness they are doing a giveaway with Christmas gifts for those who can’t afford to buy presents. I still can not get over how great God is for allowing people who are able to help those in need do just that. I said to myself [not literally] that those two must really be humble…

“But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace” Psalm 37:11 NIV

Just think about it…they have money to do whatever with! They have kids of their own but decide to give to those who need help. I hear a lot of people say their humble everyday on social networks but it’s more than just a saying. To be humble is to really know yourself…to be able to see yourself clearly for who you truly are.

A person with a prideful spirit is not humble. Try putting your pride aside and just praise God you’re alive and well. A person who brags about what they have shows no humility. Instead of bragging to the world about your many accomplishments and materialistic value just praise God! When you have a strong relationship and connection with God, people will naturally see that. You’ll have no reason to boast because that will not even be apart of your character.

“All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble”. Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.” 1 Peter 5:5-6 NIV

I believe that life is all about learning lessons from our actions. As a person gets older he/she in time will see that God’s plan is bigger than anything we can think of. God has a reason for the things that occur in our life and our job is to let them happen, even when we’re confused with the situation. I’m in no position to point fingers or tell others how to live their life. But I will say that God is working on all of us, even when we’re not aware of it. Lately I feel like I can see the person I am more clearly and the person I want to become. I know it will not be easy but remember that God is with you.

“He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble” Proverbs 3:34 NIV

Since I have started school this semester, I can truly say that I am blessed. Only God has allowed me to continue my education.
