Last spring I attended the 20th Annual World Natural Hair Show in Atlanta with one goal in mind: SOMEBODY is going to hire me & these blonde tresses as a hair model!!
I had a few companies in mind but at the top of that list was Aunt Jackie’s Curls & Coils, an Atlanta based hair brand who’s products I’ve used on my hair for years. When I got to the booth I spoke to the first person I made eye contact with -who turned out to be their Global Marketing Director! She loved my energy & wanted me on the team!!
I expected things to pop off IMMEDIATELY but that’s not always how things work. Months went by & nothing had changed, but I wasn’t discouraged! I was more determined than ever! I emailed her consistently on what I was doing with my radio show, newest youtube videos and making sure she knew I was interested in working with the company.
Finally in September I got the message I had been waiting for! The Global Marketing Director looked at what I had to offer and decided that with my skills I’d be a great fit as the official Media Representative & Brand Ambassador for the company!! A new position in the company was created and it was tailor-made for me! And to think all I wanted to be was a hair model!
So far thanks to my new gig I’ve traveled to New York for Circle of Sisters Expo,
Miami for The Quintessential Naturals Tour,
& have hosted several events around the greater Atlanta area!!
This whole thing has come full circle because in a few days the 21st Annual World Natural Hair Show returns April 21st – 22nd!
But instead of attending the event as a patron, this year I’ll be at Aunt Jackie’s Curls and Coils booth ready to meet all of you, sharing product knowledge and fluttering around the event covering who’s who & what’s what!
