While there is a surplus of sparkly sweaters on the market right now, there’s something about an embellished version that feels more forward-looking. Case in point: 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Embellished Wool Sweater ($550) from the Resort 13 collection. Adorned with multicolored glass beads, the crew-neck not only hits on a major trend for the current season, but its decorative look is sure to be a crowd pleaser too. Lucky for its admirers, this month’s Do It Yourself project offers an affordable way to get the look!
The Inspiration
It’s hard to call out our favorite piece from the 3.1 Phillip Lim resort collection-how can we when there are so many covetable items to choose from?-but the designer’s playfully embellished knits are definitely at the top of our list. Thanks to the addition of hand-painted antique beads, the Embellished Wool Sweater ($550) went from cold-weather basic to of-the-moment statement piece.
You can imagine our delight when Erica Domesek of P.S. I Made This showed us how easy it is to make our very own inspired-by version. Some intermediate sewing skills are required, but with the help of a few ingredients and steps, you’ll have an equally dazzling piece in no time at all!
