I walked outside earlier and there’s a crispness in the air!! I’m excited for Fall but I also dread it -I’m ready for boots & cardigans but I DESPISE winter! I hate cold weather!!
But regardless of how I feel the changing of the seasons are inevitable & the cold weather bring a change of wardrobe. With that being said Who What Wear asked stylists Emily Current & Merritt Elliott how to transition trousers for Fall. Check it out:
How do I transition trousers for fall? I’d love ideas for now (when it’s hot) and later (when it’s cold)!
It’s really all about trousers this season! They’re a great investment item because they can take you from late summer all the way into winter, plus there are so many popular shapes and styles on the market right now. Whether you like something slim or loose, there’s sure to be a pair that’s perfect for you. Our three favorites are as follows: Must-Try #1: The Boyfriend Khaki. The key here is to make sure the silhouette is loose: the words “tight” and “boyfriend” shouldn’t go together! If your life is more casual, you might prefer a broken-in khaki, but a slightly dressier version is versatile too. Now: Pair a striped top or t-shirt with gladiator sandals for a Cape Cod-inspired look. Later: Style a print t-shirt (something silky or inlinen) with a sharp blazer and loafer or two-tone heels for a chic tomboy outfit. Must-Try #2: The Wide-Leg. Look for a lightweight pair in chambrayor a seasonless wool-twill blend. Now: Add a tucked-in easy tank, barely there high-heeled sandals (neutrals are great, or go for a pop of color), and your favorite skinny belt for a modern take on Katharine Hepburn’s classic style. Later: Try a shrunken plaid or houndstooth crewneck sweater and chunky-heeled ankle boots for an East Coast prep-school look with a little edge. Must-Try #3: The Skinny Trouser. There are so many options on the market, ranging from print capris to ’60s striped skinnies to non-basic black cigarette pants. Now: Wear them with a sleeveless peplum blouse or button-down and cap-toe pointy flats. Later: Make your skinnies a little more rock ‘n’ roll with astudded or classic biker jacket in an on-trend color, tough skinny belt, and cool cowboy booties.
