“How do you know you love him?” Often times the answer to this question is, “because I think about him all the time” or “because he takes me here or buys me this.” Fairytales and the media have illustrated a, sometimes impossible and highly unbelievable, view of what love and being in love means. Antoine de Saint-Exupery provided a very simplistic way to look at love that is very powerful and thought provoking. Living life and experiencing all that life has to offer helps us distinguish between what’s real and what’s a characterized version of the real thing. Learn from your experiences in life and understand that if you and your significant other are going in the same direction, you have a much higher chance at surviving. You want to find someone with similar goals and similar aspirations. Everything we go through in life is for a reason. As we grow older, we should come to terms with what it means to really love. Why do you think going through heartbreak is essential? If you’ve never had your heartbroken, you will never understand what it means to put forth the effort to finding that one person who makes it all worth it.
