There are times in life when the people closest to you seem to let you down. Most people rely on friends to help them through tough times. Friends are those who you confide in and seek advice from. They provide different viewpoints and allow you to evaluate situations from the outside looking in. Just like any other relationship, friendships will be tested and the outcome will determine the value of the friendship.
When things go wrong with a friend, and you feel you have no where to turn to turn to God. Remember that he is the greatest friend of all and will never let you down. God has provided a special place in his heart for each of his children. This friendship between God and his children lasts a lifetime and is truly worth more that any amount of money or materialistic things.
“Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith. He was even called a friend of God.” James 2:23 NLT
Here we see that we can be friends with God and have a special relationship with him!
Friends can sometimes be confused with associates and the two are very different. We all hear the saying “be careful who you call a friend”, but with all the fake friends hiding among the real friends it’s hard to know who’s on your team and who’s trying to bring you down.
That’s why is very important to surround yourself with positive people who have and want to reach goals. You have to do your best with picking friends and hope that you make good decisions. This is why it is important to have a relationship with God, because he will reveal those who are in your life for reasons other than lifting you up.
“The poor plead for mercy; the rich answer with insults. There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:23-24
