Breaking the Rules: How to Rock White After Labor Day

Breaking the Rules: How to Rock White After Labor Day

Reds
Now I don’t know about you, but I’ve been dying for a three day weekend and luckily for me Labor Day Weekend 2015 was EVERYTHING.
Labor Day, which was celebrated this year on Monday, September 7th, is a national holiday honoring the American labour movement and all of the hard workers in the USA.
In honor of being honored, I spent the weekend hanging out with friends, having one on one time with Netflix and paying a visit to every barbecue within a three block radius.
While enjoying all of the deliciously free food at a friend of a friend’s poolside barbecue party, I overheard two women in an intense argument with a man who just spilled barbecue sauce on one of their all white ensembles.
The man, who was very apologetic I may add, asked the women why they chose to wear all white attire to a barbecue party (cause you know, SAUCE), to which they replied “We had to because these outfits are brand new and you can’t wear white after Labor Day.”
I nearly choked on my potato salad when I heard that one because I just couldn’t believe there were still people alive who followed this fashion rule. I mean really?
I’m the type of girl who believes personal style > every fashion rule to ever exist. So if you’re like me and you know you’ll be wearing white after Labor Day and any other day you choose, read below.
White Blazer
For me, blazers are a wardrobe staple. I like to mix them up with everything from body con dresses to skinny jeans for a trendy, yet classic look. Lately, I haven’t been very inspired by the blazers in my closet and I think adding white may breath life back into my style. The white blazer shown above, is from LucLuc. You can also get the jeans from Topshop and the shirt from Yesstyle.com
White Jeans

I actually haven’t worn a pair of white jeans since I hit puberty in fear of you know who. But now that I’ve put my childish fears aside, I’m ready to revamp my style and add a new level of chic. Wear white jeans with a denim shirt and bold accessories for a look that works day and night.
Little White Dress
My closet is filled with more little black dresses than I care to admit to you right now. I used to wear them so much that they started to make me feel a little less than fabulous. When I decided to buy a little white dress I never knew just how much it would open me up to a new world of style possibilities. If you feel like I did, a Little White Dress can drag you right out of your fashion rut. Dress it down with a pair of Converse sneakers or dress it up with a pair of killer heels for instant versatile style.
Wearing white after Labour Day is definitely not as a big an issue as it used to be, so don’t be afraid to break some rules and have fun with fashion.

I’m In Love With Nike Leggings

I’m In Love With Nike Leggings

Neutrals

Right now, I’m hooked on wearing Nike leggings. I really think they complement your body and feel great.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but these are trending big time and a lot of celebrities are helping this trend by wearing them while doing their shopping and daily routines (not just going to the gym)

Nike Leggings

If you’re like me and do a lot of exercising, on your “rest days” I like my legs to recover by wearing leggings. My legs sometimes ache from running, yoga and squats etc. so I tend to wear my Nike’s (if I can) after my workout too.

I’ve got so many pairs of leggings in my wardrobe; I think I’m obsessed. I get really excited when I go shopping and see them… sounds sad and pathetic but it’s true! I love looking after my body after a workout and I feel by wearing these leggings, it helps me.

Here are some of the funky pairs available right now for you to buy!

The 90’s Dungarees Are Back!

Reds

The 90’s dungarees are back and trending. They’ve been around for a few months now and don’t seem to be going away any time soon! Come rain or shine you can wear your trending dungarees and feel good.

Topshop Dungaree

For hot days, you can always team your short dungarees with a simple vest or tee underneath and wear some sexy wedges or sandals. If you want to jazz it up a little, why not wear a statement necklace in case you want to feel more glam.

For the cooler days, you can either choose to wear your long dungarees with some slouchy boots and a long sleeve jumper or sweater over the top or you could wear your short dungarees. If you decide on the shorts, you can always wear thicker tights and the same top that you would wear with the long dungarees.

The best thing about dungarees is that they go with anything! Sneakers, boots, sandals, flip-flops or even bare-feet!

You could even add your character and style to the outfit by not doing one of the buckles up and let it hang loose or wear the long dungarees and wear one leg higher than the other. Whatever your style is, your dungarees will fit right in!

Topshop have a great pair of denim long dungarees $90.00

Make Sure You Have Gorgeous Paws For Summer!

Make Sure You Have Gorgeous Paws For Summer!

Neutrals

We all want gorgeous paws. Especially now it’s Summer time and we’re out and about more showing off our bodies and nails! There’s nothing worse than seeing horrid nails on someone.

First impressions count and even if you haven’t thought about it, people do check out your nails so be aware!

The first things I check out is hair, nails and sometimes clothes… and to be honest I think everyone else does… even if they don’t admit it.

Anyway, why would someone want to go around with awful nails? Sometimes we don’t have time to re-do them and I understand that. Everyone’s busy in their hectic schedules so fair enough. Not everyone has the time to pop to their local beautician. I tend to do my own nails; this saves money and a lot of time. This way I get to chop and change as frequent as I like.

Don’t you just hate it when you take your nail polish off and it’s stained your nails! This looks so ugly! I know you can get base coats that prevent the staining but sometimes it still does. The best thing to do when this happens is do let your nails breathe and not to paint over them because this makes it worse. You just have to grin and bear it!

I once tried false nails and I didn’t have a good experience. I somehow managed to glue my fingers together… hehe looking back it was funny but at the time, it wasn’t. I’ve never tried them since. I love my natural nails and I look after them so they are looking great.

As a Writer/Blogger, I feel shorter nails are best for me because it suits my lifestyle. I don’t mean short, short just long enough so that when I’m typing, the nails don’t catch the keys on the keyboard. Shorter nails are trending at the moment due to Kim Kardashian West favouring them. Don’t get me wrong, I love long nails too but for daily use, shorter nails are preferred.

As I mentioned, it’s Summer in the UK now, so you’re nails are on show and this includes your precious toenails! Don’t forget to have a pedicure. You want your gorgeous nails to peep out of your peep toes or sandals.
