Pink will be everywhere this month and I’m not talking aboutVictoria’s Secret either! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and chancesare that we all know someone who has been affected in some way or another by thishorrible disease. My great aunt passed away in the 90’s and I have a friendwhose mother is a breast cancer survivor. The good news is that with the earlydetection and the advancements in medical treatments women are surviving at amuch higher rate than before.
I want to encourage you all to do self breast exams. The best time to examine yourbreasts is usually one week after your menstrual period begins, when yourbreast tissue is least likely to be swollen or tender. You should do thisregularly so it will be easier for you to notice changes in appearance orfeelings of your breasts. Also,we should encourage women over the age of 40 get a mammogram once a year.
I want to highlight some companies that are supportingBreast Cancer Awareness.
