So there has been a lot of hype in the news and T.V. on the health benefits of many different foods which are supposedly rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Well, one that surprised me a few years ago was the coconut. I don’t know exactly what prompted my interest, but the information I found was enlightening to say the least!
Once seen as a menace to health, coconut oil in particular is now proclaimed by scientist and researchers as one of the most beneficial oils one can consume! Just to list a few of the benefits derived from coconut oil:
Improves blood glucose levels
Protects against osteoporosis
Dissolves kidney stones
Improves digestion and bowel function
Reduces epileptic seizures
Prevents wrinkles, sagging skin and age spots
Wards off skin infection
Helps prevent liver disease
Kills viruses that cause influenza, herpes, measles, hepatitis C, SARS, AIDS, and other illnesses
There are different ways to benefit from this awesome fruit. I know many people are not fond of the taste of coconut; I am actually one of those people! Nonetheless, I find some coconut beverages to be absolutely delicious. The one I drink the most, because you can find it at Walmart, is called Jelly Coconut Water by JCS Reggae. You can drink it with or without pulp. Other ways you can benefit is of course to cook with coconut oil vs. olive or vegetable oil.
As you can see, the coconut is more then just a fruit; it is a preventative medicine for many ailments!
